I am a lifelong resident of the Tidewater VA area, having been born at the Naval Hospital in 1953, graduated from Deep Creek High in 1971, attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Va Tech) in 1972 and graduated from Old Dominion University (Norfolk VA) in 1977 with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a major in Civil Engineering Technology. I retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard in January 2019 with 38 years of Service.
I collapsed without warning on 8/2021 while out camping at Smith Mountain Lake. I am bedridden and on a long road to recovery. The Mercedes Benz Sunseeker has been sold and has been replaced by a 2001 Monaco 40 ft motor home that has a wheelchair lift. My model railroad hobby has been curtailed for now. I can get around in a power wheelchair. My p/up was also sold.
I have been utilizing US 460 in Virginia since 1972 and have not really been paying much attention to the scenery along the road. I use US 460 mostly between Chesapeake VA and Petersburg VA, but have on occasion ventured along US 460 to Lynchburg VA, Roanoke VA and points west. I'm taking photos along this highway and have recently started taking photos of highways and signs when my journeys take me to other locations. All of those photos are now in a collection.
I got involved in NTRAK back in 1978, having joined the North Raleigh Model Railroad Club (NRMRC). There is a profile and a photo of me on their website. I am still active with them. I am also a founding member of South Hampton Roads NTRAK and an honorary member of Lynchburg Area N-Scalers. Besides Virginia and North Carolina, I have participated in NTRAK Meets in Baltimore MD, Philadelphia PA (twice), Camden NJ, Louisville KY (twice) and Jeffersonville IN. I have visited NTRAK/N-Scale Conventions in Orlando FL, Houston TX (twice) and Phoenix AZ. Photos of my model railroad club activity are now in a collection. I also participated in the 22nd Annual N Scale Enthusiast N Scale Convention in Roanoke VA in June 2014 as an Eastern N Lines Partnership Member. A Membership Profile of me was published in the May/June/July 2014 Edition of the N Scale Enthusiast Magazine. I visited the 2019 N Scale Enthusiast Convention in Rosemont IL on June of that year.
I started taking photos of the South Norfolk Jordan Bridge under construction in January 2012 during the "Talk In The Park" events that FIGG and SNJB were holding in the Elizabeth River Boat Launch Park during the 1st and 3rd Saturday of January 2012 thru June 2012. Because of my civil engineering knowledge, I took an interest in how this Bridge was being built. That June of 2012, I was asked if I would like to serve as an Ambassador to the Bridge for the Opening Day events which I gladly accepted.
I am placing all of my photos in collections and sets to help you find a particular photo so that you don't have to view them all to find what you are looking for. Try looking in the collections first. I have decided to no longer allow my photos to be downloaded due to the time and extent I have put into this account. If there is a photo you are interested in, send me a Flickr Mail, I'll see what can be worked out.
I have decided on my own to set a safety level of restricted on two photos that are in my photostream. These two photos show a train accident on a model railroad layout which I have chosen not to be visible to young children, and are not photos regarding any adult content. Wrecking trains on model train layouts is not what the Model Railroading hobby is about. Flickr did not place any requirement on me to set a safety level of restricted on these two photos, nor do these photos show anything undesirable that Flickr says should be restricted. I would prefer to have parental guidance present if children see these two photos.

I may have missed a few others.
