Producer - Solua Middleton
Drag to set position!
Miami is my old stomping ground on the Gold Coast.
I graduated from the Miami State High School in '95, and that is where I first gained my love of media and the arts as a teenager.
Before landing this job as an Open Producer for the ABC, I had worked as a print and TV journalist for the Koori Mail and NITV National News respectively.
I write, photograph, edit, cut, VJ, film and like to see myself as a bit of a multiplatform all-rounder.
In 2005, I won the Henry Mayer Media Prize for a story I wrote on child abuse in a Queensland community.
I'm also a proud Torres Strait Islander, hence my background in Indigenous media.
Feeling a connection and responsibility to my Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander brothers and sisters is what prompted me to start my own monthly Indigenous newspaper, Be Counted, for the Gold Coast.
As an ABC Open producer, I can't wait to link up with other photographers in the Gold Coast region, and hopefully get you involved in some of our upcoming projects.
