Planet World's inception can be dated back to the fall of 2008. Singer/guitarist Steve Edward got together with long-time friend and guitarist Jorge Silva and began writing songs acoustically in Edward's small apartment.

 

It wasn't long before Jim Traylor was added to the roster as a third guitarist who would share vocal duties.

The very first song that the semi-complete line-up wrote was what is now known as Headful Orchestra.

 

During a get together for Jim's birthday in March 2009, they stumbled upon the recruitment of mutual friend Norm Lassaline as the group's bass player.

 

Months passed and little was accomplished as the foursome grew frustrated with their failed attempts to find the perfect candidate to sit behind the drums. Without a proper place to rehearse, tensions grew and interest in creating music began to dwindle.

 

After nearly a year together, the still-nameless whatever-you-wanted-to-call-it only had about 7 or 8 songs under their belt. The lack of direction and cohesiveness in relation to each individual song proved to be another force pushing all of its weight back toward the embryonical band who had just chosen Lung Diary as their official moniker.

 

Finally after weeks of not seeing each other, a meeting was called to see if there was any point or chance in reviving what was clearly running out of life before their eyes.

Jim had suggested that he move away from guitar and vocals and instead take on the role of drummer in order to finally make the band complete.

 

The next step was to find a rehearsal space and after about a month of searching they, with the help of fellow musician Matt Fortier, found a place to set up shop.

 

In April 2010, the next chapter in the pages of Lung Diary began and soon, songs began to form rapidly.

Fortunately in a few shorts months, the boys had constructed a proper setlist in order to start playing live. However UNfortunately, a couple members started to become restless and unhappy with the band's name.

 

The next 4 or 5 weeks consisted of rehearsing and trying to come up with a name that they could be happy with and not grow tiresome of within a short period. Suggestion after suggestion from whoever would spit an idea out would be turned down and a proper identity was starting to look grim. Just as over-thinking became a decaying disease on their minds, an epiphany fell over them.

 

"We became sick of trying to find a name that was cool and whimsical," Steve explains, "it seemed like as soon as the pressure was off, it became so much easier to come up with a name. Something kinda goofy, almost redundant."

 

The next day at rehearsal, he gauged the band's reaction to his new suggestion one-by-one and to his surprise, they all liked it.

 

Planet World was born.

 

The days that lie ahead are paved with plans to get their live performing chops and construct a solid amount of songs to record for their very first EP.
