Retired code monkey, tech-head, and lover of photography.

Have been hacking about with a camera, off and on since about 1952 when I got a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye 127 roll film camera. When I went to 'Nam in '65 (via Navy LST) I started with a Polaroid, then graduated to a Minolta SRT-101. Ran a "hobby" darkroom on the ship, but nobody ever came - so I had it all to myself! Then drifted away for some years, and around 1988 got a Minolta Maxxum with 2 zoom lenses. Had high hopes of doing "fine art" photography - but the high cost of Cibachrome prints, framing and my lack of "marketing abilities" (read: zero sales!) quickly brought that to an end.

In 2013 I became aware of the burgeoning digital camera revolution and the bug bit again! I tested the waters with a Kodak DX3700, but the limitations of it quickly became apparent. Graduated to a Canon PowerShot Pro1. A sturdy little tank of a camera, it served well until stolen in an apartment break-in. Later I thought the theft was "providence" as it led me to take a look at the Nikon D80. From here I went to a D300, a D5200 and then a D7000. Again - printing ink (Epson 3000) and paper got pretty costly and my marketing skills had gotten no better... so in 2012 I "gave up" and sold it all off (for a song! :-( )

So after a 7-year hiatus playing with Arduino's and such - now back at it again. Have a Panasonic Lumix G9 - and I'm wondering if it is too much camera for me! The many controls and settings are quite overwhelming and it is taking quite a bit of effort to get a grip on the various combinations of settings and how to switch between them quickly.

But I am left with a modest Lightroom library of about 23,000 images and some scanned slides and negatives from the past - so while I'm learning the G9 I'll be making albums of the "moldy oldies"! Hope you find something here you like.

UPDATE: A few months after starting with the (awesome) G9, my physical abilities to get around became quite limited. Since I could no longer get out to get the images I love, I put the entire G9 outfit "on the block" - sold on eBay. Sadly I miss-read the first bid, and sold it FAR to quickly essentially "giving it away"!
