People often ask me: Why have you posted this photostream? Just for outing actors and other celebrities as users of contact lenses?

And my answer is: NO! There is nothing to out about. Being ametropic (or better said; myopic, hyperopic or having an astigmatism) is as normal as for example, having blue eyes or black hair or something like that. Many people consider a defective vision as a handicap that needed to be hidden from others or they think that wearing glasses makes one look ugly and unattractive. But I think both opinions are nonsense and just show how dorky many people are!

For people working for the show business wearing contacts may be important for their appearance. „What would for e.g. a cowboy wearing glasses in a Western look like? Rediculous! Right!“

But the main reason for wearing contact lenses is not only to look good, but having a much better vision. For me, contacts are much more comfortable than glasses because no frames restrict my field of vision and nothing lies heavily on my nose and ears but they do not necessarely make me more attractive. Sometimes I even use glasses to influence my look. It is a fact that persons wearing glasses are deemed by most people as being more intelligent. And it is also a fact, that a lot of people look much better in their glasses than without them. It is just a question of selecting the right type of rim.

But back to the question why I have posted this photostream?

While looking for celebrities on the Internet I noticed that so many of them wear contact lenses and I started to wonder about why, as there are so many kinds of Laser-supported surgeries to correct nearly all kinds of ametropia. So why those people, who are more under the pressure to look good, than average people still wear contacts? They have enough money to pay for the best medical attention. So if they do not opt for getting a surgery it means that their eye doctors do not advice them to have one. And that means that the risk of such kind of surgeries is still too high.

That is why I decided not to get any kind of surgery for my eyes!!! And that's why I posted this photostream

To make all of you who want to get such a surgery for their eyes, to think about it twice!!!

My personal advice: DON'T DO IT! BE A PROUD USER OF GLASSES AND CONTACTS INSTEAD OF A PRESUMABLY BETTER LOOKING PERSON WITH BOTCHY EYES!!!
