I am married to Marijke, and we have two daughters.

I am a climate researcher at the Dutch Meteorological Institute (KNMI) and a professor in climate change at Groningen University. I am also a writer, with currently six published novels (see my website).

I maintain a small lego store on Bricklink, called Bricks Below Sea Level. It's purely a hobby, with any profits being invested straight away in old collectible lego.

I collect old pre-50ies lego, classic space, star wars lego (in particular the big UCS sets).
