This collection is a tribute to our great and very much missed friend, the late Pat Newson. Pat was a BR guard at Cambridge from the late 1960s to 1997 when he tragically passed away after a hard fight with cancer. Pat usually had his camera with him at work and we aim to digitally liberate as many of his photos as possible to the modern world.

Pat was very influential in encouraging us to take photos and we have combined some of our own collection with Pat's to make one archive. The majority of our photos cover the lines out of London to Cambridge and then on to Ely, March and then further out into East Anglia during the BR 1970s - 1990s period.

The railway was a very different place during this time and there were some great characters to compliment the rail blue, loco haulage and long gone East Anglian signal boxes and semaphores. We hope that you enjoy the photos as much as we did taking them.

Thanks to Derek Harris for his contribution to this site.
