Instructor: Suzanne La Gasa

Wed., 6:45–9:45 p.m., March 2–May / 10 sessions.

This course encourages typographical investigation, creativity, and visual language. Students push the boundaries of expressive typography, while maintaining a focus on core principles. Through a process of experimentation, students develop and apply their visual discoveries towards finished designs of various scales, including a book cover and a poster. Through in-class exercises and discussion, participants examine letterforms, create alphabets, and develop new forms that can be put into practice. Students experiment with a variety of mediums. Be prepared to get your hands dirty--and to keep them off the keyboard. There is no prerequisite for this course, aside from a love for type.
