I'm pretty much an amateur film photographer/cinematographer who loves to shoot vintage expired film stocks from way way way back in the distant past. I have only started getting into film around October 2013 starting with Super 8 movie film and then quickly caught onto still film photography when I learned I can easily process film myself with Caffenol C (coffee, vitamin C, soda) and the only chemical I needed was the fixer. Since then I've been shooting still/movie film like crazy and totally love it!
How I got into vintage expired film photography, well I bought a couple of 50s 120 Kodak roll films from an antique store and wondered if I could get them to work so I shot them well overexposed and processed them and one was partially successful giving ghosty blurry images so from then on I became hooked on vintage film and have since well refined my exposing technique and Caffenol C developing technique and can make B&W film dating back to the 1930s yield nice pictures! :D And in more recent times I've learned about cross processing vintage colour film and have bought a C-41 kit and successfully processed colour films dating back to the 40s and 50s in colour which is a mega wow factor for me! :D
On the movie film side of things I've shot over a dozen Super 8 and Double 8 films from the 60s, 70s and 80s and have successfully developed most of them as B&W negatives in Caffenol C and most of my films are on my YouTube channel www.youtube.com/user/troysvisualarts , just look up key words like "kodachrome", "super 8", "8mm", "double 8" etc. and you'll find them.
Film photography/cinematography is not the only thing I'm into, I am also into television history and am a big collector of vintage TV/video cameras, vintage video recorders and videotapes with early TV recordings and to a smaller extent vintage TV sets and been into this hobby for many years before I got into film! Much of my collection I have featured on my website troysvintagevideo.0catch.com/ . Also branching from there I am into recovering lost vintage TV shows stations erased from their master tapes and 1970s episodes of Australia's pop show Countdown is what I sought after the most in the missing shows category and have a website illustrating it in detail 1970scountdown.atspace.com/ .
