Being Dave's cousin I have obviously had the privilege of knowing him all my life (!!) although it wasn't until a couple of years ago that I discovered he was as passionate about photography as I was. It turns out he was also pretty sh*t hot at it!! Dave’s a Photoshop whiz and when it comes to composition, his use of lines in his landscape shooting is second to none. As a kid, Dave was a big inspiration when I started playing the guitar and now, almost 10 years on, he inspires me with his camera work which in my opinion is up there with the best.

I have known Dave (aka Sov) for many years as a work colleague and friend. However, it wasn't until quite recently that I learned of our shared passion for photography; I remember it well, there I was on Grandes Rocques beach having a BBQ with friends when he walked by carrying a rather large digital SLR, when I asked if he had taken any good shots he replied that he had forgotten to install the *&^%$£ memory card ;-) Dave was a fairly reluctant Flickr-er... "Nah... PBASE is much better!", but once I got him hooked there was not holding his creative juices back! A quick browse of Dave's stream will immediately tell you that he is a photographer of great talent. He refuses to stick to one style, always experimenting and seeking new creative ideas for great looking images. Oh yeah, lastly, he's also a very lucky Bastard.... he recently flogged all his old Minolta kit for a small fortune on e-bay, allowing him to upgrade to 5D and L lenses at hardly any extra cost ;-) He deserves it!

I've had the privilege to get to know Dave (aka sov) through his masterful photography and his devotion to this magical site. One look at his photostream will tell you about the man's unique abilities as a photographer - he is truly gifted behind the lens. But unless you are a Flickr fan, you might not know that this kind person spends hours encouraging others by his kind visits and positive comments to their photostreams. Flickr is a better place because of Dave and we're very fortunate to have him as a leader within the Flickr community...
