My Favourite Casting Things

Plaster on arms and fiberglass on feet

Shinny metal crutches and a wheelchair as my seat,

traction beds in which one is tied up with sturdy strings,

these are a few of my favourite things.

Cream coloured fracture pans and strappy cast shoes,

DLLs, DHS, and DSSs are definitely all does.

Arms that are wrapped up and placed into slings,

these are a few of my favourite things.

Unrolling cast tape ply after ply,

catheters securely tapped to my thigh,

a tension bandage that stays put and clings,

these are a few of my things.

When heavy rain falls, when jarringly the phone rings,

when I’m feeling sad,

I simply remember my favourite casting things,

and then I (really!) don’t feel so bad!
