Hi, I am a complete beginner. This is my project to show my paintings from scratch and to see how they develop.

Why did I start painting? The only time I have painted was at school and I was not interested in the slightest. Then in march 2010 I was watching a documentary on Mark Rothko with my girlfriend and became immediately inspired. It was like an epiphany!

Luckily my girlfriend is the fabulous illustrator Emma Block, who has loads of paints, brushes and other art related material. And I started painting right after the show. It really was a strange experience, I saw her room in a completely different light. I had never realised all the great little details in her room! Stuffed papers under the bed, pictures all over the wall, paint everywhere! It was a world opened up before my eyes!

Before seeing the Rothko's i probably knew the names of about 10 artists at most. I had no idea what the different schools of painting are or what kind of paints exist. So as my paintings evolve so will my appreciation of this great world of art!
