Maurizio Capolupo è nato a Roma il 26 maggio 1957. Si interessa di fotografia da strada e di fotografia itinerante sin dal 1978.

Dopo una fase amatoriale e di approfondimento della tecnica fotografica decide di continuare la sua esperienza solo dal punto di vista amatoriale.

Rivolge la sua attenzione alla sperimentazione, toccando diversi settori della fotografia applicata alla ricerca sulle nuove tendenze e al reportage.

Nel 1988 realizza un reportage in Norvegia attraversando Germania, Austria e Danimarca fino a raggiungere le isole Lofoten. Un viaggio itinerante che è riuscito a stimolare e cambiare per molti aspetti la sua intimistica idea del viaggio.

La sua ricerca attraversa varie fasi, articolandosi parte in Europa e parte in Italia, con particolare attenzione alla città di Roma, il cui fascino riesce a trasmettere, in tutti i suoi molteplici aspetti, un passato e un presente che interagiscono in modo evidente avvolgendo il viaggiatore e l’osservatore in una fabula senza fine.

Le caratteristiche più rilevanti del suo modo di fotografare sono quella fatalistica e quella realistica, la cui sintesi tende a voler fare dell’espressionismo fotografico un momento di grande impatto emotivo.

Capolupo è un fotografo che fa dell’immagine l’aspetto più importante del suo racconto. Da anni cammina per le vie seguendo un istinto che si concretizza nella ricerca delle genti. E in ogni occasione, ritorna con un esauriente quantitativo d’immagini piene di sensazioni e di emozioni.

Tra gli altri suoi reportage sono da evidenziare quelli dedicati alla ricerca dei volti e delle espressioni, che lo portano spesso a usare teleobiettivi.

Altro aspetto importante è la ricerca continua e appassionata dei murales disegnati i dai grandi writer di tutto il mondo, che con il loro modo di esprimere l’arte, riescono a portare ovunque un’aria di novità nell’espressionismo moderno.

Maurizio Capolupo ha al suo attivo alcune mostre, due su Roma dal titolo “Roma luci e ombre” e una su Berlino. Dal mese di Gennaio 2014 sta preparando la presentazione di una sua mostra sul Cilento Vallo Di Diano, un lavoro impegnativo che l’ha per molti aspetti coinvolto in una ricerca sui colori e sulle tonalità e in un accurato approfondimento cognitivo della Campania, regione che, per le suggestioni suscitate, si lascia spesso cogliere e amare con delicata freschezza.

Capolupo predilige la tela e il laminato come supporto fotografico, due materiali che riescono a esaltare la sua creatività e la sua espressione dell’immagine.

Maurizio Capolupo was born in Rome on 26 of May in 1957. He was interestead in street and itinerant photography since 1978. After an amateur stage he studies in deep the photographic technique and decides to continue his experience only like an amateur. He focus his attention on experimentation, touching different areas of photography applied to research on new trends and reportage. In 1988 he completed a report in Norway through Germany, Austria and Denmark to reach the Lofoten Islands. A journey which has succeeded in stimulating change and in many respects his intimate idea of the trip. His research trough different stages, articulating partly in Europe and partly in Italy, with particular attention to the city of Rome, whose charm is able to convey, in all its aspects, a past and a present that interact in a clear wrapping the traveler and the observer in a fable without end. The most relevant features of his way to photograph are fatalistic and the realistic, the synthesis of which tends to give to photographic expressionism a time of great emotional impact. Capolupo is a photographer who consider the image the most important aspect of his story. For years he walks in the streets following an instinct that is constituted in the search of people. Every time he comes back with a comprehensive quantity of images full of sensations and emotions. Some of his reportage it's important to highlight those dedicated to the research of the faces and expressions which often lead to use telephoto lenses. Another important aspect is the continuous and passionate research on murals drawn by the great writer all over the world that with their way of expressing art are able to carry anywhere new elements in the modern expressionism. There were some exhibitions of Mauriuzio Capolupo: two on Rome entitled "Rome lights and shadows" and one on Berlin. From the month of January 2014 is preparing a presentation of his exhibition on the Cilento Vallo di Diano with a demanding job that has involved him in a research on the colors and shades, and in a thorough investigation of the cognitive Campania which for the suggestions raised you leaves often seize and love with delicate freshness. Capolupo prefers the ply and the laminate as photographic support two materials that are able to enhance its creativity and its expression of the image.
