I'm a southern Sheffielder (now just near 55). Spent my childhood down south in Dorchester and moved to Sheffield for university and stayed ever since. Started taking photos on a 110 and moved up to a Pentax P50 35mm SLR in the late 80s. In the early 2000's bought a Canon IXUS and when I realised I was taking more photos on the IXUS I decided to buy my Nikon D40. I'm self taught on digital SLR on the D40 , which got out and about only when kids allow (except for the family album) I am still learning the art of digital photography and therefore still reluctant to accept the artistic editing options in photoshop so my shots are pretty much as taken. The camera has been upgraded to a Nikon 7100, which after a period of tennis elbow - perhaps brought on by the extra weight now happy with it.

A lot of railway shots some simple records, to more artistic and occasionally I will try to use the camera properly on non railway subjects.

In the past few years I've been on a few trips with the 1z10 group, made numerous new friends, visited many new places and learnt a lot about photography, including how much I can improve more.
