I taught high school English for almost two decades before joining the Language, Literacy and Culture doctoral program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Graduate School of Education. While working toward my degree, I act as an ACCELA Program Supervisor supporting student teachers seeking licensure in English as Second Language and Reading as a Specialty. As a high school instructor, I developed a yearlong, project-based curriculum that utilized multimodal media production to teach sophomores critical literacy and to deepen the content of their writing. Before becoming a teacher, I ran a photography and public relations company endorsed by the American Society of Media Photographers that specialized in architecture and interior design.
