THE TREATMENT EXPLAINED:
This is what the treatment involves and the products used;
Facial lines are caused by the repeated use of the facial muscles in a particular manner. Just as a freshly ironed shirt will become severely creased , for example at the elbow as a result of bending the arm, in a similar way our facial lines form whenever we frown, squint or smile. Some people have a distinctive facial habit – grimacing, raising eyebrows, and using one side of the face more than the other – and in time they will see a set of facial lines appear which reflect this individual habit i.e. Monkey lines and Crow’s feet.
Lines can be softened or in some cases erased by means of ‘filler injections’ or surgical/laser peel treatment. These treatment processes vary as to how effective they are and how long they last, however, they all have one common characteristic – the EFFECT is being treated rather than the CAUSE. Unsightly facial lines have already been formed and these are continually reinforced every time we frown or squint.
Injections are given, usually to the forehead frown area, which temporarily freezes the frown muscles and thus puts them to sleep initially for a period of 3 to 6 months. The freezing of the muscles is always temporary and can never be permanent which is why the treatment is called ‘The Hibernation Treatment’ since the muscle temporarily ‘hibernates’.
The basic aim is to break the habit of frowning and educate the client in their facial movements so that in effect they learn not to frown.
Usually a client will have several injections over a number of years until the frowning habit is broken.
Apart from the habit breaking aim, other positive benefits include: -
While the muscle is temporarily immobilised, the forehead is ‘at rest’ and the frown line is not being created or reinforced.
Most patients notice that their existing frown lines do soften out because the forehead is completely relaxed.
It is generally agreed that frowning is an unpleasant habit, which tends to spoil the serenity and beauty of the face. After the treatment, although all the many other facial muscles can be used normally, the forehead remains still and calm and thus the face appears more serene. People that have had treatments have even commented that they feel calmness within themselves.
Some facial lines can sometimes be markedly lopsided due to overactive muscles on one side of the face. This treatment can be used to selectively weaken such muscles thereby balancing the resting tone for both sides of the face.
The injection procedure takes about 5 to 10 minutes. The practitioner will ask you to frown hard, so that the exact pattern of forehead and frown movement is clearly seen for each individual. The injections can be slightly uncomfortable for some but quite brief.
Selling points for customers;
•The treatments & procedures are neither Non evasive surgically and no skin burning lasers are used.
•The treatments are always temporary and can never be permanent.
•Treatments over a number of years result in fewer treatment intervals and less lines.
•Home visitation appointments; your place, your time, more comfortable and convenient for some clients.
•Appointments can be made to coincide with a salon appointment.
I am a fully qualified nurse and aesthetic botox, dermafill and chemical peel practitioner.
As a nurse now on my 23rd year professionally, Like most nurses I too suffer from the most excruciating back pain and other related muscular problems as a direct result from years of nursing people that need moved around for many reasons.
The profession now has mechanical machines to help move patients but make no mistake all nurses still to this day Will and do have back problems as the machines are heavy and cumbersome and require effort to move and manipulate and we still have to physically manoeuvre patients into positions in order to use these machines.
Anyway rant over LOL
I wondered if there are any women on this site or in a flickr group that have had the botox, dermafill or chemical peel treatment/s and if they would share any before and after pictures with the me or with their group/s or email me.
Also I would really love to hear any comment/s good or bad about results from these or any other skin related treatments.
kind regards
Caroline.
