Saturday 12th July 2025 and I am still discovering unseen images in Dad's negatives. This truly is a full time project but life takes over sometimes. Thank you all for the fantastic 5.5 Million veiws, amazing x

2022 17th May. Back again and hoping to start scanning again soon. Can you believe it has been over 5 years since I started uploading in earnest, there are still several thousand negatives to plough through of Dad's stuff. I am also adding my bought collections from unknown photographers. My health issues have bought me to a virtual standstill this December. After 17 months my sight is restored. However I am still on medication and have permanent double vision. It makes me very tired but I hope to get back to full scanning mode sometime in the new year. As always, thank you for giving me a reason to keep sharing.

2016 - My name was Lynn Jefferies I am the only Daughter of Alfred Edward Jefferies & Shelagh Butler. I Inherited my Dad's collection of over 10,000 images mostly in 120 negative form, very many I haven't looked at yet. My Dad Alfred Edward Jefferies was Brightlingsea, Essex, England, UK born + bred, He was the 7th Generation on the male line to have been born in Brightlingsea, Essex, He moved to Colchester in 1958 when he married Mum. Dad was never without a camera. He was taking photo's right up till the end of his life back in 1996. The last shot in his camera was a Selfie, 20 years before #selfie became a word. There were 50 undeveloped films which my husband has now had developed. Dad was born in Brightlingsea, Essex in 1932, by the time he was 17 he had made a lasting commitment to record history in film. His work is not limited, enjoying the art of photography as much as the subject.

He developed and printed his own film, we had a cellar in Colchester but he could make a dark room anywhere.

It is my job to get his work seen, so here it is and I hope you enjoy them. The quality is not always great but they haven't always been kept in the most ideal conditions. Most of Alf's Photographs were captured on his most treasured possession, His ROLLEIFLEX 1262605 Twin lens reflex camera made by Franke & Heidecke. The reason most of his shots are Square 120's I still have the camera and although letting in light it's mechanism works and it has all of it's lenses, I have all of his developing and printing equipment including his enlarger. I would like to produce Real Photographs from his negatives one day. Thank you sincerely for making us your favorite, Lynn x P.S. RIP to my Mum Shelagh 14-10-37 to 4-1-2019
