Welcome and thanks for looking at my Photostream.
The biggest influence on my photography was my English Teacher Peter Burton, he used his medium format Rolleiflex to take landscape and architectural photos, and had many published in books such as the Shell Guides. His friendship inspired my passion for photography. I was given a Fujica ST605 N for my 18th birthday. A good basic 35mm SLR camera in those days - it lasted many years. Most of my photography has been of architecture, landscapes and people. For my 50th I bought myself a Canon 5D Mark ii. I love its quality, but retain my preference for using its manual mode, often manually focussing too. Retirement coincided with the Covid pandemic and my daily woodland walks gave me the opportunity to take more wildlife photos, so you will see lots of them on my Photostream.
A word about Black and White - this is another Peter Burton influence. Colour can be a distraction from seeing the power of the connection between people, or the passion in a protest, or the drama of the space, light and order of architecture.
I like to provide a description so everyone knows the subject and location of my shots - obviously I appreciate this in fellow Flickr members. For me the amazing thing about Flickr is the huge and diverse talent and creativity of so many other photographers. I have learnt so much from others. Keep up the great work!
