Mycroft Milverton, the son of Mycroft Milverton and grandson of Mycroft Milverton comes from a long line of farmers and millers in the town of Milverton.

Widely considered non-conformists his ancestors always embraced the latest technology, windmills, watermills and steam power and the Jaquard Loom ahead of their competitors.

Heir to a vast inherited textile fortune, member of the landed gentry and confirmed bachelor he became increasingly frustrated with the demands of Victorian High Society. He kept his ancestral fascination with technological progress and started to produce inventions of his own and dreamed of what the future might hold.

However he realised that some of his inventions seemed to work a little bit too well, despite defying his understanding of the physical universe. Seeking to understand his success despite his lack of understanding he started exploring the nature of the universe itself. He created a contraption that allowed him to talk to the creator.

The creator was expecting his call.

After a lengthy, and quite frankly disturbing, conversation Mycroft soon discovered that he was a character in a short story “Mycroft of Milverton Towers” being written by a 21st century gentleman going by the name of Warren.

Warren lived in a world driven by advanced scientific knowledge, ubiquitous technology, intsant worldwide communication, worldwide transportation almost as fast, vast quantities of computational power and significantly more progressive attitudes! Warren however dreamed of travelling to the past and living the life of the landed gentry, stately homes, household staff and gentlemans’ clubs.

“Let’s change places” said Mycroft.

“That’s impossible” said Warren.

“I don’t know how to do it...” said Mycroft “but you can make me do it...”.

So Warren started to write... And Mycroft started to invent...

Mycroft entered the transfictional chamber...

Warren laid his hands on the computer screen...

Anybody observing the event would have seen nothing happen... Nothing at all... Except an expression of apprehension turned into a wide smile.
