A lifelong railway enthusiast born in Surrey, lived in Chilworth near Guildford from the age of 18 months until I left home when I married at the age of 22 in 1979 and bought a house in Liphook, Hampshire a stones throw from where the Longmoor Military railway once ran. We moved twice more and had 3 sons before moving to North Cornwall along with my wife Judy's family in 1988.

We still live very happily in same house we moved to 36 years ago although our sons have of cause left home, 2 of them with their families still in Cornwall and our youngest son has moved to Alaska and got married. The house I lived in as a child was next to the Reading to Tonbridge line with trains passing every 1/2 hour and this must have made a deep impression upon me and kindled my lasting interest in railways both real and models.
