Hi ive always been in the psv industry spending my life well since i was 19 as a driver. I gained my psv while working for southampton citybus in 1987 i then worked for Millers of Cambridge mainly driving there service buses at first then going on to there coach side. I did my first coach tour for them in 1990 when i took a 31 seat Ford plaxton to Whitby for 5 days from then on i was hooked on touring as i always knew i would be. From millers i moved back to Southampton where i did a couple of years for Marchwood Motorways i then left there & did a winter season for R&I coaches in london before coming back to Southampton in late febuary 1992. I then started working for Princess Summerbee coaches who later became Princess coaches. I spent 11 years working for them & saw a massive change in the company in that time. It was during my time there that i did my first european tour which involved taking a Vanhool Astromega to Paris with a group of 70 South African rugby fans within a couple of weeks i was away again this time doing my first longhaul european tour this time a 9 day ski trip to Austria. Over the next few years i did loads of tours & i t was during this time we got a contract to supply a coach to Leger Holidays to operate there tours. I did these till 2003 by which time i felt i had gone as far as i could with Princess coaches. In febuary 2003 i started work for Hellyers of Fareham where within a couple of weeks i was driving a new Volvo B12B with Jonckherre body. 2003 was a fantastic years i spent the whole season touring on behalf of consort travel going much further afield than i ever had i went to Croatia Sorrento & Prague amongst loads of other places. Once the 2004 ski season ended i was in formed i would be loosing the Volvo as it was going into Travelsphere livery & i was going to be allocated 1 of the new Setra S415HD Top class coaches that were on order this proved to be the best coach i have ever driven. Over the next few years i covererd 300,000 kilometers in this coach until Hellyers closed in october 2006 to say we were shocked was an understatement. From here i spent 2007 pretty unsettled i worked for Vision Travel for a while then went to work for Buzzlines......... That lasted 6months & the less said about them the better. In early 2008 i spoke to Chris stainton & as a result ended up working for Staintons of Kendal. At first we did whatever tours we were allocated but within a very short time Chris allocated us a 2004 reg Vanhool Daf that was Leger silver service spec. We spent the next 18 months working for Staintons doing silver service before we came back to Southampton. Again we bummed around for a while we worked for a few companies including Hardings of Redditch but mostly we worked for Marchwoods it was while we were working for them in late july 2010 we got a phone call from Leger asking if we would like to go back to working on there Silver service work as they had a coach company that needed a crew. We now find ourselves driving an 08 reg Bova Futura for Clarksons of South Elmsall covering Leger Silver service tours. We are very settled as they give us the coach & just send us on our way.... As for the future who knows but as it stands at moment as long as Clarksons run a Leger coach we will be working for them.
Time for an update
Sadly Clarksons went bust at the beggining of March 2011 leaving us without a job we have had a worring few weeks as you can imagine. We have now however got a new job still driving on behalf of Leger but now working for Edinburgh coach lines but based in Fareham our 1st tour is Barcelona on 11th of April. As the summer goes by i will upload pics as often as i can. Time for another update didn't realise I hadn't done one. So from April 2011 till the end of the 2016 season we worked for ECL. From 2011 till 2016 we had the Volvo 9700. In April 2016 we got a brand new Mercedes Tourismo. I was very disappointed with this merc it had a ZF ecolife gearbox & only a 380bhp engine which proved underpowered. I lasted till 2017 with ECL but my personal life changed somewhat & got the chance to move to Chiltern Travel. At Chiltern I was allocated BD15CWG which was another Tourismo but with 428bhp & a go8 gearbox. This restored my faith in Mercs & was a fantastic coach. in Late 2019 We were asked about going onto Luxuria which is Legers premium brand. We agreed with Trevor we would take on a new coach to Luxuria spec. In February 2020 Trevor Boorman & myself did a factory visit to inspect the new coach. We were both really impressed with the set up at VDL Valkenswaard however when I got to look at our coach properly i find it's got that god awful ZF ecolife gearbox. We agreed a delivery date of 01/04/20 !!!!! We had sold BD15CWG & were all ready to start Luxuria then covid hit..... The less said about 2020/21 the better however I'm very lucky to have been kept working by Mike Elkin at Portsmouth City coaches & Alex Conroy at AC Travel. Through 2021 I did a good number of Shearings tours following Leger buying the Shearings trading name. For this work I used BF68ZGB which was another very good Tourismo but this one is an M2. 2022 started & things were looking promising we did a couple of Silver service tours in the Setra S416GTHD 173HKH then on 01/04/22 we finally after a 2 year wait collected our brand new VDL from Barnsley. we have so far been to Ireland for 6days 5 day Dutch bulbfields 12 day Sorrento 12 day Majorca 14 day picturebook Italy 12 Lake Garda & 9 day Barcelona which up till 14/06 has put 27000kms on the coach. I'm not over impressed with The VDL it does something to annoy me everyday but at least I'm back out touring after a crap 2 years.
