In 2012, two departments and a centre became one: the Department of Media Studies (IMS). The new department is comprised of two sections and one unit. The Section for Journalism and Media is more familiar as JMK (the former Department of Journalism, Media and Communication); the Section for Cinema Studies corresponds to the department that went by that name up until the end of 2011; and the Unit for Fashion Studies similarly corresponds to the former Centre. The new department offers programmes in each subject on all levels, from introductory undergraduate to doctoral student training, as well as courses and programmes in English for the large number of foreign students who attend the department each year. IMS faculty members conduct research on media, society and culture from a variety of scholarly perspectives.
