I am a freelance artist that indulges in all of the arts. By profession I am a musician that teaches Piano, Violin, Keyboard, Composition and Theory of music when I am not performing or accompanying somewhere. I am usually involved in these things most of the time and when I am not my hobbies include Vegetarian cookery, Snooker, Travel, Nature, and performance.
As far as my approach to photography is concerned it kicked off past just taking general holiday snaps with an instamatic about three years ago when I brought an old Sigma manual camera out of the auction. It was only then when I started learning how to adjust all the extra new buttons and switches I now had to play with that my interest in photography as a subject took a hold. I particularly enjoy outside photography using the natural light that is there at the time and applying it to nature and atmosphere and abstraction. The only alterations I might apply to the odd picture would be by adding a little more contrast or cropping the original picture down a little. There are exceptions to this rule when I have a play around with post production as surrealism intregues me as an art form as well as it does in photography.
When the camera was first invented it gradually took over from the artist and as a result artists found many other ways of painting (Impressionism, cubism, surrealism. abstract to name a few.) It has became my interest to use the camera as an artists tool learning as I go and having fun.
I presently live in North Devon where I am married with three children one at college reading Jazz and Latino music and the other two in secondary school.
I joined this flickr site in mid December 2009 and so far I love it. Flickr has opened me up to seeing many other styles and taught me to view photography from many other angles. I have made some fantastic contacts that all seem to be brilliant photographers in their own right and it is an honour to be associated with them. My stuff is still very basic and I consider myself very much as that of a beginner. However I know that given time, help and encouragement that seems to be abundant on these boards I know it can improve my work as I go.
This really is one of the nicest sites I have ever encountered and I always look forward to coming in here to indulge more and learn more too.
