I am 71 retired and disabled. My photographic interests are landscapes, flowers, animals and architecture. I joined Flickr in November 2009. I have been a keen photographer for about 30 years. Although I took my first photo in 1956 which was 54 years ago. I did do Semi professional photography for a very large company I worked for mainly livestock and arable shots. I would welcome any comments from other photographers because I would always like to improve my photographs. Due to increasing problems with my hands I am having to rely more on point & shoot or mode photos.

I’ve found Sid to be a real inspirational character. I came into contact with Sid in my early days on flickr and got to know the man through flickr itself and private e-mails. How he copes with his disabilities and how he spent personal time out in advising me (a novice of novices) told me in all sense of the meaning what kind of man he is and what Flickr was all about. Because I share a similar problem with my hands he even spent time in advising me on what camera would suit my needs best, I’ve had so much enjoyment and lessons from using this camera it’s become priceless to me. Sid is happy in sharing his knowledge and resents people who can’t do the same so that has given a message to myself “he’s been happy with me as is student” So this is a honour in itself Finally the best advice I, and I’m sure many others was given by Sid; IS . “No matter how much the camera costs or what the camera can do” “It’s only as good as the photographer”

Colin was one of my first contacts when I first joined Flickr, he is always ready with help and advice, and always makes very useful constructive on pictures he likes, and is always happy to suggest ways in which you might improve a shot. Like me, Colin is of the opinion that you do not need an expensive camera to take a good photograph, it is more about what the person behind the camera sees and how they interpret it, than it is about how expensive the camera is. May we have many more years sharing comments each others images.

Colin (elcid3) is a contact anyone would be proud of, he provides helpful, encouraging and sometimes amusing comments. To date he has managed to comment on every single photo on my stream. His own photostream is varied, interesting and very enjoyable. He is a very knowledgeable man but more importantly he is more than happy to share his knowledge and has pointed me in the right direction more than once! He has given me quite a few very useful tips on photography, composition, cropping etc. Colin is a lovely, kind man and in my opinion one of lifes true gentlemen, but above all he is very generous with his time. I am pleased to 'know' this man and look forward to our continued friendship. Ellie May.
