My work goes beyond the formal representation of the subject as I develop the painting in an expressive, spontaneous and intuitive manner. The paintings or drawings are worked in such a way so that the essence of the subject remains but I am constantly changing shapes and marks so that the subject is transformed into a new reality.

I hope that you will see in this exhibition a series of works that reflect a truth of the subject. My aims have been to lift the motif to a higher level from the mundane through a continual change of re-workings. A quote by Matisse sums it up well: “I do not literally paint that table, but the emotion it produces upon me.”
