Public Allies advances new leadership to strengthen communities, nonprofits, and civic participation.

Public Allies Chicago was launched in 1993 by founding Executive Director Michelle Obama. For over 16 years, we have recruited diverse groups of young adults to serve communities across Chicago and launch their own nonprofit and public service careers.

In our signature 10 month AmeriCorps program, our allies work full time for a nonprofit organization addressing critical community issues and developing their leadership skills through weekly trainings, coaching and team service projects.

This year, we welcomed our largest class ever of 49 allies working at over 40 partner organizations!
