When I was a kid, visiting the Museum of Natural History was my favorite thing in the world. Beautifully crafted exhibits featuring lifelike dioramas of landscapes, wildlife, and human cultures around the globe-- complete with soundtracks from each area represented--created a sense of traveling through time and across the continents that felt almost magical. These engaging and immersive exhibits inspired in me a love of learning and exploration which has remained with me as an adult. With this flickr account, I've made a project out of photographing and documenting as much of these museums as I can; with those photos, I hope to make the natural history museum available for all to enjoy, wherever you happen to be.

Sadly, I've observed a trend in recent years in which the beautiful and immersive museum exhibits of the past--for whatever reasons-- have been largely replaced with displays designed to be bland as possible, or in many cases, removed altogether. Perhaps the best example is the Milwaukee Public Museum in Wisconsin, a place full of classic exhibits designed with a level of artistry no longer found in modern displays--and which is now in the process of being dismantled. So in addition to simply sharing these exhibits, I hope my photos can also serve, in a way, to preserve or at least commemorate them.

Although I've tried to capture as much of these museums as possible, many of their most iconic exhibits (including dioramas, indigenous artifacts, and literally anything having to do with human remains, regardless of their historical and cultural significance) were already removed before I had a chance to properly photograph them. Therefore, contributions in the form of information and photos is always welcome!
