I am a 50 year old mum of 6, stepmum to 5 more and grandma to (so far) 8 wonderful grandkids. I have a lovely hubby and we also have 2 irish setters and a wee ginger cat. I run Loving Hands the charity knitting, crocheting and sewing group - we now have over 760 members who work away tirelessly to provide items for the various charities we support. I am so glad of haivng loving hands to keep me occupied as I had a dreadful accident last summer when I slipped in the bath, cut my cheek and ended up contracting a flesh eating bug. End result after 3 weeks in a coma and 3 months in hospitla is that I have lost the whole left side of my face (including the eye and surrounding tissue) and they had to take my scalp to make a new forehead for me. I have a long reconstruction journey to go through yet but being surrounded with my wonderful family and all my great members is keeping me going (far too busy to feel sorry for myself;0). With my great collection of wigs and the masks I make out of pvc to cover the side of my face and missing eye I am fast becoming a bit of a fashion icon - could start a new trend!
