Welcome to my corner of Flickr, I hope that you are having as much fun on the site as I am!
Pictures say a thousand words, so if you really want to know what I'm into take a look at my 'favourites'....
I'm busy growing up at the moment, a bit of a late starter trying to find my place in the world, trying to work out what it all means ... probably like the majority of you!
I'm constantly frustrated with life because I haven't found my calling yet, so I hope that it will catch up with me soon beause I got bored of waiting for it in England.
I trained as an Medical Herbalist, in which I gained a BSc Hons. Degree back in 2002. It involves making lotions and potions and masses of research, it would be nice to use it to make a living.
I love plants and Botany, trees are very important to me; their form, texture, individuality, longevity and patience captivate me.
I was brought up in the countryside of south Devon (England) which has become part of my soul, it is so beautiful, and I count myself lucky to have enjoyed it, and know that where ever life takes me, it will always be the place that I want to come back to.
I'm in to the applied arts, especially Meissen porcelain and English silver. I took a furniture making class last year and really enjoyed learning to use my hands again, as University tends to focus on the brain!
Last year my Grandma gave me a copy of Paulo Coehlo's 'The Alchemist' and now I think about it, it was a very motivating factor for me although I had completely forgotten about it until after I made an enormous change....
**In June I decided to leave the country and move to Vienna, which is where I am now, living with my best friend and teaching English. I hope that the change will do me good and give me a diferent prespective on life, as well as force me to learn more German :-)
Plenty of interesting culture and architecture to keep me happy here, and now that I am away from home, more time to read and think. Plenty of Austrian antiques to learn about too! Coffee and cake is very good and is helping in the battle against homesickness.
Thank goodness for Radio 4 on the internet!
Here's a quote form John Denver, that I find comforting, because I'm not the only one that hasn't found their way yet.
'Lost and alone on some forgotten high-way,
Travelled by many, remembered by few;
looking for something that I can believe in,
Looking for something that' I'd like to do with my life.
There's nothing behind me and nothing that ties me to something that might have been true yesterday -
Tomorrow is open and right now it seems to be more than enought to just be here today,
And I don't know what the future is holding in store,
I don't know where I'm going
I'm not sure where I've been
There's a spirit that guides me;
A light that shines for me,
My life is worth the living I don't need to see the end...
Sweet, sweet surrender,
Live, live without care,
Like the fish in the water,
Like the birds in the air.'
Happy searching, what ever you are looking for - I hope that you find it.
All the best,
Col.
