About SCW

Schools for the Children of the World (SCW) establishes partnerships with the communities in which we build schools. Our goal is to help local community members design and build a school, empowering them to use the experience to make further improvements to their community and the surrounding region. The community generally provides the land, volunteer labor, local materials, etc. We provide planning and design assistance, as well as materials and financial support to employ an experienced contractor to lead the project. We also partner with other organizations, including governmental entities and nongovernmental organizations that fund and support specific portions of projects that interest them. We are very flexible in how we work with local communities and project partners. For example, if donors want 100 percent of their money directed toward a specific project, we make that happen.

We also have associated organizations, such as SCW Canada and SCW Honduras that support our efforts. They each operate with their own cash flow and are registered in their respective countries. Both facilitate projects on their own as well as in partnership with us.

Our typical cost per classroom for new construction is $30,000. That includes all planning, design, construction and construction administration costs. This can be a bit higher than the average government-built structure because we feel it is important to incorporate local unskilled labor as an educational and empowering experience for the community. We also try to achieve a higher standard in both the construction and in the educational facilities.

Current Projects

SCW is working on a vision to build 20 new schools by 2020.

•We are currently working to build new schools/classrooms in Honduras, Haiti, and Nigeria. We are willing to help wherever there is a need, from single classroom additions to new schools.

Thank you for your interest. Please let me know if you would like to partner on a project together!
