Photography is something that I've been enjoying so much since I got a Nikon D5000 a couple of years ago, I only wish I had more time to put towards what is such a fascinating and rewarding hobby.
There isn't really a one genre of photography that I stick to, as I seem to find every area has its own little things that make it interesting. I suppose the general umbrella of "nature photography" is something which I enjoy, as well as delving into abstract now and again, and also anything that involves lines and vanishing points (so yes, I do enjoy lying in the middle of roads to get photos).
I don't do a huge amount of editing (often due to lack of time), and I have just moved from GIMP 2 to Photoshop CS3, but at most I'm just playing with curves and levels, I really did ought to learn how to use it properly (I'd love a go at HDR).
Aside from photography, I am currently a student at The University of Nottingham studying French, Spanish and Russian. I also play the viola to a Grade 8-ish standard, and have played and toured with orchestras. I have also been fortunate enough to visit some fantastic parts of the world, such as several European countries, the United States, Zimbabwe, Egypt and Australia; I honestly feel you gain so much from travelling, seeing new sights and immersing yourself in a different way of life. For me there is nothing more exciting.
I hope you enjoy my photos as much as I enjoy taking them, and if you have any feedback, positive or negative, please do comment, as I am always looking to improve and learn from the fantastic photographers that Flickr seems to harbour.
