I am a (semi) professional photographer and graphic artist from the vicinity of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I like to use my small favourite Konica Minolta 420KZ, an Olympus C-750UZ and finally an Olympus E-500 camera. Besides photography, I enjoy drawing by old-fashioned hand. In the fall of 1995 I bought the programme “Fractal Design Painter” (then still 4.0 Version) and got my first taste of the fantastic digital atelier that such software has on offer. Since winning my first digital camera in a “Gourmet Catfood contest” I have grown fascinated by digital photography, and put my heart and soul into it. Along with my partner, we have absorbed many skills and techniques in this field of digital photography.

I have done some professional artwork, ranging from some digital photo’s for a school catalogue, designing calendars to the occasional piece of advertising. My work is Copyright-protected under Dutch law by the organization PICTORIGHT in Amsterdam (M.Mourik, 37268). Anybody who is interested in using my work can contact www.pictoright.nl under reference of my creditnumber 37268 to order and/or negotiate copyrights. Enjoy looking around!

This is one of the truly extraordinary Flickr sites. Each image is a finished work of art demonstrating complete mastery of technique and revealing the intimacy of light in its interplay with the objects of contemplation. A bravura performance by a magnificent talent.

mjmourik is a new "Dutch master". I happened to come across her photos circuitously by looking at some other Flickr artists and felt my heart skip a beat when I came across her photo "the Donk route". Not entirely sure how she does what she does, but it is a pleasure to the eyes and the soul. The "Lambkins" is a classic photograph obviously done by someone with a special eye for what is beautiful. The rave reviews by people basically falling all over themselves are well-deserved and well above what other photographers receive on their Flickr sites. I've shown her photos to many people - all are quite speechless when looking at these works of art.

mjmourik has the flair of capturing those "typical Dutch" landscapes and objects with the keen eye of the Beholder. Those old Dutch scenes painted by Rembrandt, Ruysdeal, Vermeer and others is no more. Virtually every windmill now has a backdrop of powermasts for the energy-grid, even the proverbial Dutch cows can be used for advertising A.D. 2007. No joke: a flock of sheep wearing Ad-banners for the "Hotel-plan" chain...if a Dutch farmer sees money in it, consider it done, mjmourik still tries to capture the sheer beauty of the flat landscape of the Lowlands. Endless meadowlands, a riverbend, that lone windmill reflected in the water...Her work takes the Netherlands to a next level - the Neverlands - of almost fairy-tale like beauty. You expect to see Peter Pan and/or Wendy passing by on a barge, gliding over the Merwede or the river Alblas. It is all still there, but you have to be able to SEE it all, and capture the moment. mjmourik does this, that is why her pictures are such "eye-candy". Take your time to enjoy it!
