Hello to all modellers out there! I have made this gallery to show off some of my models to the world!
I'm 17 and I have an awful lot to learn in the art of model kit making but I hope people may find my models vaguely interesting subjects.
They are nowhere remotely near the standard of the modellers I have seen in magazines and books and on the net. But I hope I will build up my ability as I go along and tackle new and more challenging stuff in time.
If any one wants to chat about all things model kits please feel free to email me at youdhopeitneverrains@hotmail.co.uk or Flickr mail me if you have an account.
The first model I ever made was a Airfix Harrier GR3 with my Dad when I was about 7. But it is only in the last year or so that I have done modelling at a consistently decent standard. It took until very recently for me to actually completely finish a model without breaking part of it or ruining it with a rubbish paint scheme. Impatience and mood swings pay a large part in things I find!
I don't care what anyone says about tank and military modelling being a boring thing that nerdy people do locked indoors all the time. I rate many diorama modellers works that I have seen as highly as any artist in terms of skill, refinement, style and imagination. I build models to feed my imagination and I use exactly the same mental process as I did for my GCSE Art exam for example. What saddens me is that nobody I know my age is really interested in creative things like this or even military history for that matter.
Just recently I've become heavily interested once again in cars and rallying in particular- hence the rash of car kits I have got hold of.
The problem I have now is that I am getting like those people who have unmade model kits as loft insulation.
So many 'want a go at one of them better get it now in case it becomes unavailable' moments recently- not good!
