Hi I'm Cathy! Welcome to my collection of PY and DeForest of California (and a few pieces of Lefton) kitchenware. I live in New Jersey with my husband and are Cornish Rex cat Gidge (and of course, the PY and DeForest "children" ha ha).
I have been collecting these wonderful pieces for over 25 years and enjoy them more each day. I smile every time I walk into my kitchen and see them all grinning at me. Flickr is a wonderful medium for me to catalog and sort all my items in one place, as well as share them with the community here :)
These were all produced between 1950 and 1961. One of the most exciting things about collecting this type of pottery is that previously unknown pieces still occasionally surface. The Internet continues to bring new surprises, and you know I will post them here as soon as it does!
I currently have about 400 pieces and am always looking to add to my collection. I am always up for a purchase or trade if it is for the right piece.
2022 - There are a number of pieces that I am especially looking for; if you have any available, I would be interested in either a purchase or trade (they do not have to be in perfect condition):
2. The DeForest Bar-B-Cutie spice shaker set (with faces). I am also interested in single pieces. Jars are small versions of my condiment jars, and come with either green or brown lids.
3. The DeForest Bar-B-Cutie canister set (with faces). I am also interested in any single pieces. These are also the same shape as my condiment jars and come in flour, sugar, coffee and tea.
4. Any cookie jar marked PY, Miyao or ESD (with a face) that falls outside the "norm". I am especially looking for vegetables and animals. There may be an owl, pig or squirrel jar out there somewhere! I have also heard talk of a "grape head" cookie jar marked PY. Condition is not an issue on any of these. I'd also love to hear about them if you have them in your collection!
5. PY flower face salt and pepper shakers that have legs and arms (not sure if they are marked). I am interested in either singles or sets. Condition not an issue.
6. PY Strawberry face teapot and/or creamer.
I hope you enjoy your visit to my photostream; if you do, or if you have any questions or comments about PY or DeForest in general, please leave a comment or email me at johncathyg1@comcast.net or visit me at Instagram at @cathygio1 so I know you stopped by - I always like to talk pottery!
Please do not copy my images without my written permission. Thank you :)
