I have been photographing the airlines of the world since 1965. Images posted here on Flickr are a small sample of my work over the years.

I got the idea from my Dad, who was an USAAF B-24 pilot in the 8th Air Force in England during World War II. My Dad took color slides of military aircraft in action and on the ground during the war. I was impressed as a child by his daring work and it gave me the platform to continue the tradition, albeit mostly commercial aircraft with some military aircraft. I have also photographed other forms of transportation including ships and trains.

In my early years of aircraft photography, I was not impressed with the quality of the early telephoto lens. I vowed to use only standard lens which forced me to find ways to get up close to the action.

In 2008 I started the Airliners Gallery digital photo image library on SmugMug, the parent and owner of Flickr (airlinersgallery.com). The AG is a consortium of photographers where their best photography is showcased. The staff photographers are a great team of transport photographers from around the world and also my friends, many of which I have known since the 1960s.

We are different from most of the mega photo websites where there are hundreds of similar shots of the same registration.

We carefully select the best photographers, the best pictures and also the number of shots. We purposely restrict the number of shots in the AG for only the best images of each registration so each shot stands out.

Each image in the library is available for purchase as a color print, suitable for framing or as a gift. We have many sizes and we accept many currencies through SmugMug.

We also supply the publishing and advertising industry with the best digital images of transport subjects. The photographer receives most of the proceeds for these one-time industry uses.

My job is to invite the photographers, select the photos, process and save the photos, write the interesting historical captions, promote and publicize the images, communicate and coordinate with the industry and make the payment distributions to the AG Team.

When finished the AG will have a gallery for each airline, past and present. We currently have over 5,300 gallaries with many more to add.

In 2023 I started helping Brian Worthington with the Great Airlines Series of books (available on Amazon) that tell the story of airlines and airliners throughout history. Each volume is beautiully enhanced with AG photos and beautiful summaries of the airlines (history and aircraft operated). The AG photographers help with their images and their knowledge and expertise.

During 2025 I will be celebrating 60 years of photographing the vascinating world of air travel.
