Due to hard work an wise investments during my younger years I am now semi-retired. I found myself with extra time and decided to find something fun and creative to do with it. Photography seemed to fit the bill so I gave myself a camera (Canon 50D) for my birthday in June 2009. (Before that I had not owned a DSLR, my previous camera was a Sony Cybershot (point and shoot). Learning to use my new camera has been fun. During the past few months I have taken many pictures of just about everything. I thought I had it under control and then I found Flickr. I am humbled by the many beautiful photographs I have seen here. Needless to say I have so much more to learn from some very skilled people here. I am dedicating some time to understanding light and sensor behavior to it, experimenting indoor mostly until I regain the confidence to shoot real subjects again. I have come to the conclusion that photography is all about light and the camera has to be adjusted to the excess or lack of it. I live in Virginia (US) and I am an structural engineer. I speak three languages fluently and I can butcher another two. I have a beautiful wife and four fantastic little ones (whom I use in photographic experiments from time to time). Well that is enough about me.
