Hi and thanks for visiting my place...

For the past 30 years, I have travelled at least once a year in South-East and parts of East Asia either for business or backpacking.

In 2005, I have started to travel as backpacker in the countries which used to be a part of the Ottoman Empire, the Middle East. My interest was caused by my collection of historical photographs and documents of German soldiers serving within the Ottoman Empire during WWI.

The selection of pictures shown in my flickr-account is of reduced quality only for faster loading time. If you require pictures in a better quality and in a wider variety, just send me your request via email and I will think about it.

I used to upload historical photographs free of watermarks intended for private use and people interested in history. However, due to bad experiences, commercial use without my permission, I had to put copy-killer on them. Those of you who had downloaded the old version, I would ask not to distribute them further.

The images now posted still provide an idea of how things have been long ago...but not much more. You can congratulate the illegal downloaders using them commercially for this result.
