Author and Photo Editor MARK CHRISTENSEN writes: "Many if not most professional photographers approach photography as a sort of minuet, a formal rigorously controlled dance to snap. Clyde worked much more free form, often not even using his viewfinder, his subjects barely aware of his camera. He'd drift around, talking away, and click, click, click. The result: stunning graphic reality, found and fresh. Real life in black and white." November 22, 2008

"The year was 1976. I was going to visit Kesey with my pal photographer Clyde Keller. Clyde was unique. In 1968, while barely more than a teenager, he sent off photos to Robert Kennedy Presidential campaign headquarters in Washington and soon found himself in the company of RFK advisor Pierre Salinger, taking photos of Kennedy as he campaigned throughout Oregon. Keller created what Kesey liked best: art made magic. I never met anybody who could compress creativity into such a vital, efficient package. Clyde’s camera was a silent machine gun, he shot photos like movie directors shot film and we were soon to be off to record “Kesey World” for posterity." Mark Chrsitensen, November 7, 2010
