The Corner: 23rd and Union is an interactive public radio documentary about, for, and created with the corner of 23rd and Union in Seattle's Central District.

From mid-June through August 2009, everyone is invited to call the story hotline 877-R23-UNION (877-723-8646) where an automated voice mail system lets you listen to neighbors' stories and share your own.

The Corner is created by KUOW 94.9 Public Radio and Hollow Earth Radio producer Jenny Asarnow.

THE CORNER IS PUBLIC ART

Beginning in June 2009, an installation created by Handsome Murals will revitalize the empty lot on the southwest corner of 23rd and Union and invite neighbors to call the documentary's phone number.

The installation will feature stunning photographs by Inye Wokoma, of neighbors standing on the corner.

NKO of the Free Sheep Foundation has designed a series of monumental structures that feature larger-than-life prints of Inye's photos. These site-specific and improvisational works will be built from found materials with 'Scratchmaster' Joe Martinez of Handsome Murals, along with collaborators No Touching Ground and David Rauschenberg.
