David Boyd, Jr. b. 1973 attended the Savannah College of Art and Design and graduated in 1995 with a degree in Illustration. After college, he returned to Newnan and ran his own house painting business for 2 years before receiving an opportunity to teach art at the high school level at The Heritage School. After teaching for 18 years, Boyd shifted from the classroom to painting full time. In 2016, Boyd and Meredith Wilson launched The Studio School at Three Hearts Farm where he teaches oil painting and drawing from life. Boyd also teaches workshops across the southeast. Boyd and his wife, Julie spend their summers on the road painting and exploring. In November of 2015 they welcomed the birth of the first child, David Boyd, III.

 

Boyd is an avid outdoor painter and is an active member of several groups including the Plein Air Painters of the Southeast, Portrait Society of America, American Association of Marine Painters, Oil Painters of America, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and he is a Signature Member with the American Impressionists Society. Boyd has won awards on the national level and his work can be found in private collections across the globe. His work is available on his website at www.davidboydjr.com
