A Little About Me:

 

I have always had a secret interest in photography, that for one reason or another I have pushed aside and ignored over the years. Then at the tender age of 35, I found myself in possession of a camera, a flickr account, and no excuse not to use them both ;)

 

My journey into photography began seriously in May 2009, when I started playing around with my aging Point and Shoot (a Sony Cybershot DSC-S600) and embarked on a Project 365. This seemed like a good idea, since a record of a year of my life through photographs seemed a worthwhile concept, and it had the double bonus that it also chronicles my early development as a photographer. My addiction to photography was almost immediate, and I am rarely to be found without my camera, and I have a tendency to want to photograph everything!

 

Unfortunately a health condition has been getting in the way of my photography a lot of the time. My enthusiasm hasn't dulled, but I'm much more limited now in when I am able to be active with both taking photographs and using the computer, which means my uploads here have become fewer and more sporadic. I'm still here though, enjoying other people's photostreams, and posting pictures when I can!

 

I still feel very much at the beginning of the learning curve, and have yet to find my own "style" as such. I am still experimenting and exploring. I very much welcome comments and constructive criticism on my photographs - anything that helps me find my way will always be appreciated! :)

 

My DSLR is a Canon EOS 450D, and am thoroughly enjoying learning to make the most of it!

 

I currently own four lenses:

EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (the kit lens), and its brother:

EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS

EF 50mm f/1.8 II

EF100mm f/2.8 Macro USM

Update:

I did consider rewriting this page to make it up-to-date, but it feels like part of my photography journey to include it, so instead I am merely adding an update.

 

My health issues have become increasingly disabling with time, but I have adapted, and now like to zip around on my mobility scooter with my camera when I can! My passion for photography is as acute as ever, and although I still need to get back in the habit of making regular uploads, if anything I am even more geeky about it than I ever was before.

 

My trusty 450D is still kicking around somewhere, and I do tend to take a lot of iPhone photos, but my pride and joy is my Canon 5D Mark IV.

 

I also have a couple of new lenses which (along with my Macro and nifty fifty) have rapidly become a staple and much loved part of my photography kit:

 

EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM

EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM

Another Update:

After a long hiatus, I am back regularly photographing again, and getting a bit more experimental whilst I am at it. My main priority at the moment is to make sure I am taking at least one photo a day, which means a lot of random mobile shots filling up my current Project 365. I am making the effort to make the most of my equipment when I am able though, and trying to improve my skills where I feel they are lacking! Sometimes that makes for some good photos, sometimes it doesn't. It's still a journey.

 

I am still using my 5D Mark IV, and I have one new lens that I have added to my collection, that will I am hoping to make good use of with the wildlife photography I am planning to do:

 

EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM
