I have always been interested in taking pictures - my first camera was a Kodak Instamatic - my first big camera was an Olympus OM 1 which I got for a 21st birthday present. I was a fanatic about that camera and mastered it well - sadly that mastery has not continued and I have let things slip a little.

I continued with a Canon EOS55 in the 1990's but have not really taken my photography to that next level. Through work I was fortunate enough to have access to various Cannon digital SLRs including the 5D - which is a beautiful camera - sadly out of my price range. I settled for the Cannon EOS 40D which I think I am happy with.

In spite of this long association with cameras I am only now looking to improve my techniques and become more adventurous - move beyond the 'oh that's a nice photo' stage and take a critical and more artistic approach.

I love the Highlands, my family ties are mainly Skye and Raasay - and that is where the heart is. My other passion is New York city and the USA where I have friends. All these areas are a photographers dream! I maybe also have a little tendancy towards the sad - that sunset/twilight moment always appeals - my icon is through a window of what is now a burnt out shell and I have a thing for doomed buildings ha ha.

Finally I am easy going, laid back and much in need of exercise and a healthier lifestyle.
