Having taken my first (B&W) photograph in 4/56, in Inverness, (Highland Omnibuses Albion Nimbus A1 (NSG869), which I last photographed withdrawn with Berresford at Cheddleton), and my first slide in 10/61, in Thurso of Guy Arab E5 (ASD406), I have continued to take slides until 2009 when I changed over to digital photography.

Unfortunately,my B&W negatives were never returned to me by a dealer I lent them to in the eighties, and so none have been scanned. Some of my earlier slides however, have now been scanned, and one or two I have put on flickr.

My interest over the years has been mainly in the Scottish Bus Group fleets, and their successors, and to a lesser extent in the "corporations" and many independent operators. However, I have visited the Emerald Isle over the years, and annually since 1990. I have also made a few photographic forays south of Hadrian's Wall, but my main passion is for rural bus operation, particularly in the Highlands, and scenic photography.Sadly, I have few skills with the camera, and just snap away, but by the law of averages, the odd picture comes out well. In my earlier years, I travelled around hitchhiking, staying in youth hostels, and occasionally police cells (by choice!), and when I got my first car slept in it at some strategic location.I also started taking "cine film" of buses in rural locations in 1973, with my wife and son helping with capturing still and movie pictures, and while these are all now on DVD, the omnibological interludes have yet to be separated from filming of the family!

You are welcome to download any of my pictures,(at least I think you can!-but this electronic firmament is a bit of a mystery to me,)- and use them as you wish .If you have any requests, let me know and I will see if I can help.I have probably well over 200,000 slides, many in their original slide boxes, totally unclassified and with no index or notes of any kind, only my memory as a guide,as I was taking up to 150 films a year throughout the eighties and nineties, so no real idea how many,-and most have never been scanned .However, many of my earlier slides are available as prints through the PSV Circle Photographic service.

However, should you feel tempted to try and "sell" any of my images on Ebay or by any other means-as has happened to me and others I know), I and others will be watching you!-theft of intellectual property is a criminal offence, and there are various ways you can incriminate yourself.

Meantime, I have not disabled downloading of my pictures,(although I know there are ways of circumventing this, so I wonder why others bother trying to do so.)

However, since I wrote this, thieves have stolen some of my older pictures (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, AND SO DO OTHERS), and they have appeared in publications etc, attributed to the particular thief, and in at least one case I know of, requesting royalties. I have therefore removed some older pictures, and will confine myself to current photographs.
