I am an Atlanta-area artist and photographer; most of my work deals with themes of construction and perception of reality. When photographic processes were invented they were hailed as a mirror of reality, recording images to which truth could be ascribed. I prefer instead to subvert photographic truth by substituting a reality of my own creation, asking the viewer to move beyond accepting what their eyes see, and to participate in arbitration of meaning. Our internal landscape colors our processing of input, and shapes our interactions with the world. I’m interested in how we are constantly creating our own projection of reality, what effect who we are has on how we see the world and interact socially, and how we might intervene with that process and change—or some might say, hack—our very existence.

While my practice primarily results in photographic images, I tend to consider myself more an artist who uses photography than strictly a photographer. Sculptural objects and scenes are constructed in the studio, drawn or painted elements are often incorporated, and my practice also diverges into making artist books, and creating conceptual mash-ups using collaged drawn and found elements.
