James Voves... Must Read Profile
Drag to set position!
Retired Chicago Firefighter. I have taken most of the photos and if you like to use them it is OK with me. Please let me know if you do just like to know who is. If in fact I did not take a photo but someone other then me, Note the old black and white firehouse pictures are from the books of "History of Chicago Fire Houses" I will so note and it is them you'll have to ask. I hope to show all the old and new fire houses in Chicago. Having been on the job 29 years I got around. As time goes on I hope to have a little history of some of the firehouses.
Dogs rule, you must love animals and dislike Bush to visit
I do have another site, so if you care search James Voves and you see my photos of Chicago
I am a very proud Liberal and really dislike anyone who thinks the Bush family was good for my country. I block anyone who I see has anything saying how good Bush was or how bad Obama is. I voted for Obama and am very proud he is my president. If you are a Bushie keep going
I like to add: If you think Sarah Palin would make a good president, your as dumb as a rock
Special thanks to the following who without them I could not do this.
Mr. Ken Little, of the Chicago Fire Alarm Office and Father John McNails who compiled a list of over 550 firemen killed on duty. I will post there names with the photos of the firehouses as I go
Retired Chief Jack Connors who was one of the good guys I worked for at the Fire Department Repair Shops
Retired Engineer Sully Kolomay who I worked with at Engine 98 when I first got on the job. A very nice man always fun to be around.
The City gives out two awards for bravely each year. The Lambert Tree Award and The Carter Harrison Medal. The Medals are alternated each year between the Fire and Police Departments. I will post the deaths and the awards that the companies and men received . I have already posted the deaths of many firemen who have died or been killed while on duty. I will as I can post the awards given to the men.
Because I do fine more information and stories, as I go I will add to the photos I posted. Think maybe you may want to visit some again later if you can. I will add to the photo example "Up date 4-3-09"
It does not matter if your a firemen from a big city or a small town, a paid fireman or a volunteer, go to one fire a year or 10 fires a day, the job is the same for all of us and most of us love the job.
We all see the worst and best of people
