S. Mark Richardson grew up in Chattahoochee and Lakeland, Florida, and has lived in Gainesville, Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta and Boston. He has travelled extensively throughout the United States, and many of his travels are captured in his work. Mark is fascinated by the moments and elements that are often missed in the hustle and bustle of daily life. While he originally pursued an education and career in information technology, he continued to devote his spare time to developing his photographic skill and art. Mark is inspired by all of the senses: music to food, painting to performance, aromas to textiles.

Until recently, his work has only been available privately. However, in 2015, Mark pursued a lifelong dream and opened an intimate art gallery in Micanopy, Florida. "Somewhere Along the Way" features Mark's work together with a select grouping of other artist's offerings in an inviting and casual atmosphere.

Mark's photography is infused with textures, shapes, colors and hidden details. He sees the world a little differently through the lens of the camera--noticing how a certain emotion is captured in the world around us. His love of texture is seen in the medium he selects to showcase his images, including metal, wood, glass and canvas. The finished piece is much more than a photograph: each fusion of image and texture creates a unique piece of art.
