Δυόμιση χιλιόμετρα από το κέντρο του Αργοστολίου στην Κεφαλονιά, σ’ ένα σημείο ιδιαίτερης φυσικής ομορφιάς και γεωλογικού μυστηρίου τις Καταβόθρες, οι Σταύρος Παπαγιάννης, Γιώργος Κυριαζής και οι συνεργάτες τους, ανέλαβαν το εγχείρημα να ανακαινίσουν το παλιό τουριστικό περίπτερο του Ε.Ο.Τ. αρχιτεκτονικής Άρη Κωνσταντινίδη, ώστε να φιλοξενήσει το bar restaurant Katavothres.

Παρεμβαίνοντας μόνο σημειακά στην πέτρινη εξωτερική του αρχιτεκτονική αισθητική των 70s, εσωκλείουν ένα μοντέρνο πολυχώρο με έπιπλα και αντικείμενα του σύγχρονου design επώνυμων σχεδιαστών δείγμα αρμονικής συνύπαρξης του κλασσικού και μοντέρνου.

Οι καναπέδες και τα πουφ του Antonio Citterio, οι ponyskin καρέκλες του Le Corbusier, τα ανοξείδωτα τραπέζια της Patricia Urquiola, οι πολυθρόνες των Charles & Ray Eames, τα φωτιστικά του Verner Panton και τα καθίσματα του Bertoia τοποθετημένα στους άνετους χώρους, συνδυασμένα με το μαύρο μωσαϊκό του δαπέδου το φαιό κονίαμα των τοίχων, τις ειδικές ξύλινες κατασκευές από παλίσανδρο βερνικωμένο μαζί με το επιβλητικό bar που βρίσκεται κάτω από την οροφογραφία του Φώτη Μπεχλιβανίδη και το σιδερένιο κεντρικό τζάκι του εστιατορίου συνθέτουν μια πρόταση για το σύγχρονο ΕΥ ΖΗΝ συνεπικουρούμενη από τις εξωτερικές δημιουργίες της φύσης και της θάλασσας που αναλλοίωτες απολαμβάνονται από τα μεγάλα ανοίγματα του χώρου.

Οι πλακόστρωτες γήινες νησίδες που δημιουργούν οι δαιδαλώδεις εσωτερικές διαδρομές των θαλασσινών νερών ως αποτέλεσμα του γεωλογικού φαινόμενου των Καταβοθρών, οι βράχοι, οι πικροδάφνες και οι αθάνατοι διαμορφώνουν τον προστιθέμενο χώρο για χρήση στην καλοκαιρινή λειτουργία.

2,5 kilometres from the center of Argostoli in Kefalonia , in a place of exceptional natural beauty and geological mystery named Katavothres , Stayros Papagiannhs , Giorgos Kyriazhs and his cooperators tried to renovate the old touristic pavilion of the national organization of tourism, which is built by Aris Kwnstantinidhs in order to house the bar restaurant ‘Katavothres’.

Interfering only focusely in its 70’s stony external architectural aesthetics , make a modern multi place with furniture and objects of modern design of famous designers , a sample of harmonic coexistence of classic and modern.

Antonio Citterio’s sofas and pouffes , Le Corbusier ‘s ponyskin chairs, Patricia Urquiola stainless tables, Charles & Ray Eames’ armchairs , Verner Panton’s lightings and Bertoia’s sittings placed in cosy spaces, combined with the black mosaic floor , the red mortar of the walls , the special wooden constructions made of varnished palisandros as well as the awesome bar which is placed under the frescos of the ceiling made by Fwth Mpexlivanidh and the iron central fireplace of the restaurant compose a proposition for the contemporary well being supported by the creations of the nature and sea enjoyed by the ‘openings’ of time.

The paved earthy islands which are created by the complicated internal walkways of sea-water as a result of the geological fainomenon of Katavothres , the rocks, the oleanders and the Agave ferox (Green Goblet, athanatoi) configurate the additional place for use during the summer function.
