About Me

Hello, My name is Fatmah Abdullah Salem and I am Graphic Designer. I had my Bachelor Degree in Fine Art “Graphic Design” Out from Kuwait University, College for Women. I Graduate in Jun 2009. I am a Kuwaiti female but I was born in the United State of America at the 13th of November, 1986.

 

I work NOW as FREELANCER. I have good work experience for Kuwait & internationally. I work for Oman for an exporting and importing stuff company “Importers Company” and in Kurdistan “Iraq” for City Center. I had my trainee course in C Cube Agency, were it extend my knowledge and Skills. I had to say that this company gives me the chance to be well known throw the public. I also worked as a freelancer during my education for a playing theater show, Kuwait Voluntary Work Center, Student Academic Exchange Office, and a photography gallery show. I worked in a workshop for child and media course in Om Salama School, I designed the logo, stamp, and letterhead of The Gulf Caravan Company, and I am also pleased to say that I had worked in The Bank of Kuwait and Middle East in al Rayya branch as a summer job.

 

I have one exhibition, held in Dar Alathar Al- Islamia, and it was a photography exhibition. I would also like to ass that I am a hard worker, honest, life lover, joyful, active, self-satisfied, gifted, self-confident and creative person.

 

On the other hand, I have both social and software skills. For social skills I can say that I have good communication skills, leadership skills, team work spirit skills, and problem solving skills. For software skills, I say that I can work on both Macintosh and Microsoft platforms. I have Illustration skills, and I a good ability to use Adobe Flash, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, windows movie maker, and Microsoft Office.

 

In addition, I want to point that have lots of personal interests such as, painting, drawing, acting, voice recording for film making, interior design and many other fields of interests.

 

Finally, I like to add that my native language is Arabic but I also speak English fluently as a second language.

Art statement

I never thought that I’m going to be a graphic designer. In fact, when I finished high school I wanted to study astronomy, but for some reasons I ended up doing a B. F.A in Graphic design. Yet, that wasn’t a very odd for me because I came from an artistic family. My father is a painter, and my grandfather had craftsmanship in making wood ship models.

 

Most of my art works consist of lots of colors and elements, because I care to reflect the most suitable color/s for a certain concept or subject matter. I like colors; I believe that all colors could be mixed together creating a piece of art. I don’t like people who say that this color does not come with this color. To me, all the colors could be mixed together.

 

Love of things, forms, figures, and also humans is very important to me. It gives me the creative thinking and allows me to see the true meanings of things. For me love is an inspiration and motivation to reach what I want. Love pumps with energy and feelings, those feelings come into my works.

 

I like to dedicate my artworks to children. This is a result of two factors, the first one because I love cartoon. The second one, because I find children is very smart, and if we were looking to change the society, children are the first ones we should start with. I believe that children now have the ability to change the whole universe.

 

I wish I can go for animation design studies because I really see my self their. I am thinking of making a huge 3D animation cartoon that talks about Islam in so simple and clear way, so children could grow up with strong basics. I am thinking also of changing the design of the school education books and improve it to something that children could have fun and interacts with it while they are learning. I think it is important to love what we are doing.

 

This is my rule in my life. Do what ever you want to do because you will not live again and try to live your day for your day, don’t look back and don’t look very far away.

The Preface of My Portfolio

Smooth is curvy, easy and comfortable to the eye to see. Smooth in short describe my vision of visuals. It is also describe my style and my way of thinking. It illustrates the harmony that I try to create between the elements to form one unity and make the eye move easily from one element to another.

 

This book consist a variety of artworks in many categories. While you are turning the pages you will notice a lot of devotion to the childish world. The figures over all are cartoonish and almost empty of highly realistic details, while the colors are cheerful and joyful. Thus, draw my great attention to the children as audience.

I choose the circle as theme to reflect the circle of life. We are growing up and building our self throw everyday situations and experiences that we reach and get.

 

Pick reflects dream. Green reflects hope and I hope my dream come true in the time were we can see pure white surrounded by dark and clear ethics and values that every one could see like the dark of the night, and every one could observe like the black does with the light.

 

We are looking to change our world throw visual communication. It is known since the beginning of the human that he is a visual communication. It is in our gens that goes years after years a stick it to our blood to be a habit that everybody have it. This language went smoothly throw generations. I hope our message we can change our society and culture reaction against art. I wish it goes smoothly as if you are walking on the beach or even in a garden.
