Engineer..not that artistic...but trying !

Camera history:

Minolta X300 with 35-70 and 70-210. gave up after few yrs.

Olympus 3MP. batteries always flat. good lens. but never got going with it really.

Casio compact - not huge success

Pentax compact - took nice pics, but again, never really got the hang of digital at this stage

Canon 500 - first digital I got on with

Canon 350D - didnt enjoy that much

Canon ixus 860 - superb camera

Canon 450D - still didnt enjoy SLR that much

TZ5 - most amazing purchase - still think its a stunning camera. Simply found I got more great pics with this than the 450D.

Lumix G1 - further game changing camera - superb

Olympus EPL1 - fabulous - got stolen - regret it very much

Olympus XZ1 - excellent - but sold it to buy a Canon SX260 - which i sold because I dont like canon bluey colours

Olympus EPM1 - very good - but swapped it for an EPL3 in black to match my lens - though almost identical cameras, prob would go back to an EPM style, since i dont need to change mode while shooting - I just just dont need a dial for A,S,M etc

Canon F1 - nice looking thing - S or Tv metering not my thing really

Nikon F4 - the most amazing viewfinder....wish the rest of it was EPM sized

TZ25 - possibly an upgrade on the TZ5...but some doubts about the overall impact of the pictures - somehow the TZ5 has more impact I think - 10MP seems ideal for a compact

EPM2 - sharper than the other 4/3rds I have

Nikon D90 - bought at a good price just to try an SLR again

Nikon D600 - finally could not resist - great picture quality, excellent features such as best auto iso ever. Four yrs later still learning new great features of the amazing Nikon system, D600 still going strong, sensor cleaning not needed so much now. Update at 6 years continuous use: I still love this camera, and the Nikon lenses, and the great image and colour quality from the jpegs.

Nikon Coolpix A - a little bit limited in use, it is for me fantastic for architecture pictures with an amazingly sharp lens and fantastic sensor. f/5.6 creates incredibly sharp and contrasty images, and still large dof on the 18mm lens. In-camera RAW processing is a nice bonus.
