We're a retired couple who swapped our city semi for a smallholding in the heart of rural Devon. Originally running a small plant nursery from our city base, we moved into low impact farming and reduced our commitments to the plants, especially as both bungalow and land needed a lot of remedial work. We began with improving the fields and barns and moved on to building work once we were sure which local tradespeople to use.
